The University of Antioquia, in Medellin, is the main research centre in Colombia. Within the University, there are more than 140 research groups in areas such as Biomedical sciences, biology, chemistry, engineering and social sciences.

Additionally, the university already has a number of groups
that work on evolution and phylogenetics of human and microbes.

Colombia is located in the middle of Central and South America which permits
easy access from students from all parts of the continent. The city has an
excellent international airport and very good tourism infrastructure.
This will result in a very relaxed environment for students during the
course. and a breakout room with soft furnishings.

The Universidad de Antioquia SIU, has plenty experience with international courses. For instance, the Latin-American course for training in Genomics and Proteomics of vector borne diseases, funded by WHO, 2007 was held, with great success at the Universidad de Antioquoia.

We shall use a 50 square metre room with space for 25 computers. We will have internet access at 5Mbps and the room is air conditioned. Computers
will be Intel dual core at 2 GHz and will count with an quadcore server. This room also has a computer projector and a whiteboard. In the next room,
there is an auditorium with a capacity of 200 people. The lectures will be held in this room. For informal discussions, we have a cafeteria.
