About the Practical Course

This course is aimed at molecular biologists, evolutionary biologists, systematists, mathematicians and bioinformaticians that are interested in the evolutionary history of genes and genomes.

The particular challenge that we are facing now is related to next-generation sequencing technologies.

These technologies are 1,000-fold less expensive than standard sanger sequencing and are rapidly becoming the global standard.

With 500,000 - 10,000,000 bases of DNA being sequenced in each run, the management and analysis of these new kinds of datasets is becoming a problem.

This course will focus on the analysis of high-throughput DNA sequences in an evolutionary framework.

We look forward to seeing you inColombia!
