About the Workshop

** UPDATED NEWS: The workshop is taking place as scheduled although, due to flight disruptions, there could well be alterations to the posted programme.

This workshop will bring together leading researchers in the fields of virology and innate immunity and will focus on their interaction.

The main themes of the workshop will be:

-

viral infection and replication

-

mechanisms of detection of viral infection

-

innate immune signalling pathways activated by viral detection

-

mechanisms of viral modification of signalling

-

methods of restoring virally inhibited signalling in order to promote effective     adaptive immunity

-

host genetic variation in viral replication, detection and response mechanisms

A key aim of the workshop is to identify new directions for collaborative research between virologists who are expert in unravelling the physiological mechanisms exploited by viruses and immunologists who focus on host responses.

In particular, novel research directions will be identified that might improve development of effective vaccines against these viral infections.

Another objective of the workshop will be to promote interaction, discussion and collaboration between young and more experienced researchers in both fields with a view to stimulating and invigorating their work.

We look forward to welcoming you in Dublin!
