RNA control of cell dynamics

15 - 18 November | 2010 |Kibbutz Ein Gedi| Israel

    About the Workshop

NB: Abstract submission deadline: 20th September, 2010

The aim of the workshop is to bring together leading researchers working on various aspects of RNA dynamics within the cellular milieu, and provide them the venue and time to present and discuss their most recent findings. Specific emphasis will be set to mechanisms of RNA localization and control of translation.

The tentative sessions are:

1) mRNA Translational regulation.

2) RNA binding proteins.

3) Organelle localization.

4) Translation and localization in the Central Nervous System.

5) RNA Metabolism.

6) Development and disease.

7)  RNA localization mechanisms

8) Non-coding RNAs.

The dynamics of many cellular processes are controlled in an RNA-dependent manner.

Body patterning of embryos, development of asymmetry in budding yeast, and the function of polarized neuronal cells are well-known to be regulated by the spatial and temporal expression of specific mRNA molecules.

Moreover, intracellular physiology mediated by the function of various organelles, is at least in part controlled by the compartmentalization of mRNAs.

Thus, the focus of this meeting is on intracellular RNA transport and site-specific translation, processes that are key mediators in the development and function of organisms as diverse as bacteria, yeast and vertebrates.

We look forward to seeing you in  Kibbutz Ein Gedi!
