Workshop

European Molecular Biology Organization

Proteolysis & Neurodegeneration

(5th Inproteolys Meeting)

4 - 7 May | 2010 | Madrid| Spain

About the Workshop

Conformational protein diseases are an important challenge both for scientific research and translational medicine. Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, diseases are the most prevalent of protein conformational diseases and, as for other neurodegenerative diseases (Huntington, Prion, ALS, SCA, etc), only symptomatic treatment is available.

Deeper knowledge of the molecular mechanism responsible for the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases will help to design and evaluate therapies directed to prevent and/or significantly slow-down the progression of those diseases. Protein destruction determines a wide variety of cellular functions in the CNS. Dysfunctions of these processes are crucial in many pathological conditions including most neurodegenerative diseases.

THEMES

- Cell and Molecular Biology

- Development and Disease

- Proteolysis

- Nervous System

- Post-translational modifications

- Autophagy

- Ubiquitin-Proteasome System
