Porto is one of the most ancient European cities and was classified as World Heritage by UNESCO in 1996. Besides its welcoming and conservative environment, Porto is also contemporary and artistic. This is shown not only in the streets, architecture, monuments and museums but also in the terraces, restaurants and leisure and shopping areas.

Porto is now committed with the development of science and scientific excellence and houses two emerging but dynamic research centers in the life & health sciences, IBMC/INEB and IPATIMUP.

The Workshop Venue will be
The Fundação Engenheiro António de Almeida (Engineer António de Almeida Foundation), a private institution of general public utility, with juridical identity, officially recognized on May 5, 1969 .

The Foundation is located within 2-3 minutes walk of the Workshop’s Choice Hotel and is located in a privileged place, the Boavista zone, which corresponds to the new part of the city, easy to reach from the various points of the city either by bus or by car. The buildings of the Foundation are surrounded by gardens with trees which may ease participants’ discussion and exchange of ideas.

The Foundation possesses a Museum where the several pieces collected by its founder can be found: furniture, jewellery, textile, china, paintings, watches and coins. The latter constitute an important numismatic collection, consisting mainly of pieces of gold from Greek, Roman, Byzantine, French and Portuguese origin.
