About the Practical Course

 

The fruit fly Drosophila has been successfully used as model organism to study biological processes for over a century. This is largely due to continuous development of ever more sophisticated techniques.

 

The course will cover basic to advanced Drosophila techniques with an emphasis on new technologies and data-mining of publicly available online resources, aiming to provide participants with a solid knowledgebase when starting / developing projects using Drosophila as a model organism.

 

This course will cover the following topcs:

Basic and Advanced Genetics

Development and Dissection

Transposable Elements

Screen Design

Genetic Mosaics

Transcriptomics and Proteomics

In silico – Datamining and Online Resources

Live Imaging

     

 

The course will be composed of teaching sessions, half- or full-day practical sessions and research seminars. It will provide ample opportunity for interaction with excellent invited and local instructors.
