Lipid rafts:

methods for studying

membrane organization

23 - 31st May | 2010 | Dresden| Germany

About the Practical Course

The objective of this course is to give an introduction to the methods that can be used to analyze lipid rafts in cells and model membranes.

The challenge is to provide a practical guide to this complex field, in order to promote progress in understanding membrane subcompartmentalization.

The course will cover use of detergents and pitfalls, preparation of plasma membrane vesicles and spheres, GUVs,  lipid protein interaction in model membrane systems, membrane order measurement techniques, lipid mass spectrometry, single molecule microscopy techniques (STED, Scanning FCS).
