About the Workshop
Infectious diseases are becoming increasingly important threats to human health. Their study is a priority for several important European institutes including the Pasteur Institute in Paris, in which the study of model pathogens such as Shigella flexneri, Listeria monocytogenes or Entamoeba histolytica has led the way to understand the molecular mechanisms used by these micro-organisms to subvert cellular functions.
The main objective of this course is to present and review basic techniques as well as state-of-the-art technologies used in cell biology and cellular microbiology to approach the study of bacterial and parasite infections. This course will be aimed to beginners in the field of infectious diseases, predominantly to Ph.D. students, post-docs and young independent investigators who would like to approach for the first time the techniques in cellular biology applied to the study of bacterial and parasite intracellular infections. The methods and technologies used during the course will allow an advanced overview of the different strategies available at the crossroad of these fields, allowing improvement on classical techniques as well as discovery of the outmost recent technologies. The official language of the course will be English. |
