The field of HIV/AIDS is an urgent problem in the Third World, especially Africa. This course will teach what is to be learnt about HIV/AIDS to better cope with HIV/AIDS in Africa in the future.

 

 

Main objective:
To bring together scientists from various parts of Europe with those in Africa to improve the international interaction, increase understanding of the needs and chances, set up contacts and collaborations for the future.

Principal Themes:
This lecture course includes all aspects from basic virology to top current topics of research.

Aspects covered will be:

Molecular Virology

Replication

Transmission

Origin of HIV

Pathogenesis

Host resistance

Diagnostics

Therapy

Prevention

Vaccines

Animal models

Gene therapy

 

Participants are expected to learn how to better cope with problems of HIV/AIDS in the future.
