This third EMBO conference in the series “Signaling in the immune system” will explore the nature and interplay of signals which drive lymphocyte activation, development and differentiation, and the outcome of their alterations on immune related diseases.

This conference will provide a forum for critical assessment of the state-of-the-art in this rapidly moving area, with a focus on the

following topics, which emerged as priority at the previous conference:

Signaling thresholds and molecular circuitry in lymphocyte activation and differentiation

Systems biology of lymphocyte activation in physiological and pathological settings

Coupling receptor signaling to transcriptional networks in lymphocyte differentiation

Metabolic control in lymphocyte activation and differentiation

Imaging the complexity of the immune response in vivo

Two keynote lectures will address hot topics of crucial relevance accross disciplines:

Art Weiss will discuss chemical-genetic approaches towards understanding mechanisms controlling tyrosine phosphorylation pathways in lymphocytes.

Philippe Bastiaens will present on overview of how the new imaging technologies are providing fundamental insight into the spatiotemporal regulation of intracellular communication
