About the Conference Series

Homologous recombination is required to repair DNA breaks and to maintain genome integrity.

Homologous recombination is highly regulated and failures to coordinate it with other chromosome transitions and cell cycle events results in pathological situations, including genome rearrangements and cancer.

In recent years the importance in regulating homologous recombination has been advanced by the discovery that specialized sumoylation and ubiquitylation sub-pathways actively coordinate the function of key recombination proteins.

The 2010 EMBO conference on DNA recombination will cover the recent advances in recombination mechanisms and the connections to SUMO and Ubiquitin modifications.

We look forward to welcoming you in Lucca!
