By train:
The Bergen Railway is the most beautiful train journey in the world, reports the well-known travel guide Lonely Planet according to the press agency, NPK and the national newspaper, Aftenposten.

You can travel comfortably and efficiently to Geilo on the Bergen Railway: approximately 3 hours from Bergen and 3½ hours from Oslo. The train has 5-6 arrivals/departures to/from Geilo each day.

NSB - Norwegian State Railway

By car:
The shortest drive from Oslo to Bergen is on Rv 7, and half way between the two is Geilo. Rv 7 over Hardangervidda and along the Hardanger Fjord is a national tourist route, the Hardanger Tourist Route. Rv 7 is part of the tourist project carried out by The Norwegian Public Roads Administration and is well equipped with tourist information boards and resting areas.

You can also get to Geilo on Rv 50 over the mountains from West to East. This road goes through magnificent nature surroundings between Aurland and Hol. Hol is 10 km from Geilo.

From Geilo Rv 40 goes through the Numedal valley to Larvik, Sandefjord and Tønsberg. If you arrive by ferry from Denmark to Larvik, this is the fastest route to Geilo.
