About the
Conference
Series

The aim of this conference is to discuss all aspects related to the study of pre mRNA constitutive and alternative splicing in health and disease.

In particular:

Basic mechanism of pre mRNA
processing

The impact of splicing defects
in human pathology
Complexity of the spliceosomal proteomes: structural and molecular determinants.
The impact of pre mRNA processing defects in human hereditary disorders, cancer, neurodegerative diseases and viral infection.
Cis and trans acting factors involved in the regulation of constitutive and alternative splicing.
Identification of disease-causing splicing mutations in genomic screenings.
Co-transcriptional mechanism of alternative splicing .
In-silico approaches to detect pre mRNA splicing abnormalities.
Post-translational modification and intracellular dynamics of splicing factors.
Animal models to study aberrant splicing defects and splicing isoform function.
Evolutionary aspects of alternative splicing.
New strategies for the correction of splicing defects.

A satellite symposium entitled 'Interdisciplinary Focus Meeting on Mis-splicing and Disease' will follow on January 17 - 18, 2007.

Participation is open to the EURASNET WP12 members. Additional participants will be selected including scientists attending the EMBO Conference Series.
